History of Pock

The concept – and framework – of Pock was developed in 1998/1999. And in the following two years the Pock idea was financed by a group of approx. 50 investors in Scandinavia. This funding made it possible to establish the company structure, and open offices in London, Berlin and Oslo. Pock also recruited a number of very skilled and enthusiastic young professionals, with the aim to launch a pan-European Power Community in 2000.

Within a short year Pock managed to attract a lot of attention, and following a very aggressive and unique launch strategy, the company was able to partner up and get support from a number of solid companies and sponsors.

Pock´s Board of Directors decided early in the process to fund the company in a 3-phase operation, and Phase 1 was completed in 1999, Phase 2 was completed in early 2000. The company chose a strategy of building and funding in parallel instead of “fund all and then build”, which in hindsight maybe wasn’t the best solution. But it was an honest decision and one the owners were free to do.

Pock was preparing the 3rd and final funding when two things happened. The dotcom bubble burst (1) and the international stock market crashed (2). And from being a potential hot investment case for European venture companies, Pock became a cold case more or less overnight.  And Pock ran out of funds before even entering the market.

The rest is a history of closing down.

But not to forget. Ten years later it is done in a millisecond to see how the world developes, and that really nothing has changed to the better. So, The Time Is Now!
